Actor Vishnu Vishal, who turned producer with Velainnu Vandhutta Vellakaran, is now bankrolling two projects under his home banner, Vishnu Vishal Studioz. While his second outing Kathanayagan is up for release on June 23, he is now busy shooting for his third project, helmed by Chella. The latest update is that the film has been titled Silukkuvaarupatti Singam. Speaking to DC, Vishnu Vishal says, “We thought that the famous catch-phrase ‘Silukkuvaarupatti Singame!’ uttered by Sivakarthikeyan in one of his films would suit the story perfectly. I play a police constable hailing from the Silukkuvaarupatti village, while Regina plays a teacher. The first schedule of the movie is underway and will go on till the end of April.”
Most of the comical sequences are cliched and don’t add any entertainment value. The uninteresting romantic portion doesn’t help either. Having already seen Vishnu Vishal in a very similar type of film and with the templated screenplay pattern, the excitement or the entertainment factor is reduced.
Having said all these, the film might still turn out to be a fun roller coaster ride for the family audiences. Despite its templated treatment, the humour might work better for the targeted audience. Leon James songs and background score lack the punch and fall short. J Lakshman’s visuals add to the colourful mood of the film.
Director Chella Ayyavu is pretty clear with his intentions of delivering a fun rural comedy entertainer. He should be appreciated for executing a film of this style, considering the number of actors involved inside a frame. One might just feel that Chella could have added more freshness in creating the comedy scenes to make SPS a completely fulfilling product.
