Narai, is a suspense thriller where seven well known veteran actors, including Sangili Murugan, Santhana Bharathi, Junior Balaiah, Nalinikanth, Gnanavel, Azhagua and Vijay Krishnaraj act in the lead roles. Directed by Vivi, it is about seven senior citizens abandoned by their family members for various reasons coming together to take asylum in an orphanage. While they share camaraderie and enjoy helping each other, a certain incident turns their lives upside down. How the mystery unravels forms the crux.
Leema Babu and Rohit play the young pair. At the teaser launch of the film, ace producer turned actor Sangili Murugan, took a dig at the recently released adult content film. “Earlier days, watching a film was a treat and we enjoyed as if we were going to a festival. It is totally a different scenario today. Audiences are unable to understand most of the films now. At a time like this when films like Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kutthu spoil the audience, movies like Narai will be a quality entertainer.”
directed by Vivy, who has worked with Rajmohan, the director of Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puravum. “The story happens in an old-age home and revolves around six old men. Something happens in the home which spurs them to take revenge. But as seniors, who cannot fight, how they do this forms the plot,” elaborates Vivy, for whom Narai is his second film. His debut film, an untitled Tamil-Kannada bilingual is also on the floors, but he adds that it might take some time to complete it because he is shooting in two languages.
Six veteran actors — Sangili Murugan, Santhanabharathi, Junior Balaiyya, Azhagu, Nalinikanth and Gnanavel Vijaykrishnaraj — play the protagonists in Narai. Leema, who has acted in a few small films, plays the female lead while Eden plays a female investigating officer. Atlee’s relative Rohit plays a guy who helps the old me in their mission. Vivy has also roped in Sinu Siddharth and Achu Vijayan, the cinematographer and the editor of viral sensation Priya Prakash Varrier’s Malayalam film Oru Adaar Love for the technical crew. Anirudh Vijay, a newcomer, composes the music.
