After a short break of 2 years, South beauty Trisha Krishnan finally came up with her next outing, ‘Mohini’. Touted to be a horror thriller, R.Madhesh penned the script and helmed the project. He is well-known for his 2004-released ‘Madhurey’ movie starring Vijay and also worked as a creative director for Rajinikanth starrer Kochadaiiyaan.
Trisha sure is the biggest asset for the film. The way she handled both her characters well proved her skills as an actress even more. Except for some brief moments in the second half, Trisha has given her career-best performance. She did a dual role for the first time in her career. Bollywood actor Jackky Bhagnani performed well. The romantic track between the leads impressed the audience well. Suresh and Poornima Bhagyaraj did their parts convincingly. Yogi Babu did a comedian role and succeeded to provide some laughs to the audience amidst an intense story. Well-known Tamil actors Jangiri Madhumitha, Ganeshkar and Swaminathan did their parts well.
Technical Aspects :
Ramana Madhesh wrote the story in such a way to hook the audience and his taking worked big time for the film. The story is somewhat predictable but the director covered it well with his narration and gripping screenplay. Just as the team revealed, instead of writing a spine-chilling horror story, he also discussed a socially relevant element called child abuse. The visuals play a vital role in horror films. In terms of cinematography, R.B.Gurudev did a wonderful job. Vivek-Mervin gave good music for the songs. Aruldev’s background score is top-notch. Dinesh Ponraj’s editing is good. The VFX team spelt their magic.
Story:
The story starts with a popular chef Vaishnavi (Trisha) who goes to London with her assistant Balki (Swaminathan) and Panju (Yogi Babu). There Vaishanavi meets a boy Sandeep (Jackky Bhagnani) and falls in love with him. One day, she goes on a boat trip with her friends and finds a conch shell. Vaishnavi starts blowing and then enters a spirit into her body. The housemates easily recognise that she is possessed and get scared of her. The spirit that entered her body is Mohini (also played by Trisha) who wants to take revenge on both Sandeep and another villain (Mukesh Tiwari). What happened to Mohini and did she avenge her death forms the rest of the story.
