In the academic annals of India, Annamalai University, located on a sprawling 950 acre campus in Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, enjoys a haloed place. With a glorious history spanning over 90 years in the field of education, it has about a dozen faculties and 49 departments of study. This pioneering University is credited with some of the best names in Arts, Science, Economics, Engineering and technology. It has produced well over a lakh Engineers since the inception of the Engineering faculty in 1945. The University has an “A” Grade accreditation by NAAC since 2014.
The 5th AUETAA International Convention, a biennial event, is being held on December 23 and 24, 2017, at Feathers Hotel, Manapakkam, Chennai, India.

With a mission to give back to its Alma mater and the society at large, the Annamalai University Engineering and Technology Alumni Association (AUETAA) was formed 42 years ago. Its 3,500 strong members are spread across the globe. Besides providing support services to its Alma mater and the students of the University, AUETAA, which functions out of its own premises in No:7, PCM Colony, St.Thomas Mount, Chennai-600 016 is also actively involved in community services and welfare programmes.
The 5th AUETAA International Convention, a biennial event, is being held on December 23 and 24, 2017, at Feathers Hotel, Manapakkam, Chennai, India. The theme of this year’s convention is “Connecting Our Alumni Globally for Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship”. Besides addressing the theme, the two-day convention will feature multiple sessions by experts in the field of Engineering and Technology. There is a panel of eminent speakers to cover various topics. The sessions are tailored to give the audience a heads-up on developments in respective fields and prepare them for the time ahead.
Also on the itinerary is an exhibition of products and services by entrepreneurs among the alumni and their associates. A commemorative souvenir with the contact details of AUETAA members will also be released at the convention.
AUETAA AS A PATHFINDER
Looking ahead, AUETAA will develop a strategic plan to focus on current students as well as its members. With over 50 percent of its members being entrepreneurs, it hopes to better serve students and the alumni by fostering a dynamic and mutually beneficial networking system. By strengthening connectivity, it can help evolve a credible, independent and collaborative voice for the University. The idea is to take an alumni association beyond the frontiers of nostalgia, draw from its diverse resources and nurture a vibrant global community of learners and trail-blazers.
